Met friends at the Trolly in Imperial Beach and road to the starting area for the Navy Bay Bridge Run. This is the one time of the year that a pedestrian can be on the Coronado Bridge. The start is nearby PetCo Park and it is about one to the bridge and four miles over to finish line in Tidelands Park. I was amazed at how many people should up for this event. I saw numbers as high as 11,000!

After the race, we went to a VW car show in Imperial Beach and had a couple of street tacos.

05/19/2018
Spent most of the day in Ocean Beach.

05/18/2018
Taking a trip down San Diego way for the Navy Bridge Run so I decided to look for the Three Sisters Falls Trail. I did find the trail but did not take the hike. To find the trailhead, I took Hwy 74 to Hwy 371 to Hwy 79. I turned left on Hwy 79 which would have me driving east towards Warner Springs and Julian. At the intersection of Hwy 79 and Hwy 78, a little past Santa Ysabel, turn left onto Hwt 78. As you head up the hill towards Julian look for Pine Hills Road and take a right. This would be about 7 miles. When you are on Pine Hills Road look for Eagle Peak Road, it won’t be far away and bear right to enter Boulder Creek Road. After a while, Boulder Creek Road turns into a fairly well-maintained dirt road. You will enter and then exit the Inaja Indian Reservation. Continue on Boulder Creek Road and you will eventually see a reasonably large parking area on the right. That is parking for the Three Sisters Falls Trail. You could go back the same way you came or you could continue on Boulder Creek Road to the town of Descanso CA.

I will hike the Three Sisters Falls Trail another time.

Went down to Oceanside and camped at Guajome Regional Park with some friends. Did not like the weather. Thursday was nice but the rest of the time we had wind, rain, and cold. Did a little hiking – maybe three miles – but mostly hung around and took it easy. A lot of discussion about footwear. I like the Merrell hiking boot but switched to a Red Wing work boot, commonly known as a Wellington work boot, after sundown. The Red Wing is insulated and therefore keeps my feet warmer than the Merrell hiking boots.
