Went to Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park just outside La Quinta. Took the e-Bike. Got a couple hours in. Not a big place. Flat, easy peddling. Very quiet at the lake, maybe a dozen people there. Swimming is not allowed in the lake, however they do offer a pool that is open to the public for a small entrance fee. The big draw is shore fishing. Like most all lakes in California, Lake Cahuilla is a reservoir so every effort is made to keep the water clean.

Went Jeeping with Randy up towards Big Bear on SH38.
As you drive up SH38, from Redlands / San Bernardino, turn left on Forest Road 2N93. This is a dirt road and you should have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. 2N93 loops around and above SH38 and then returns to SH38 where we turned right and went down to the Big Falls Trail. Big Falls is considered to be the tallest water fall in Southern California. I’ve been told the total drop is up to 500 feet. Getting to Big Falls is easy, as you go up SH 38 from Redlands / San Bernardino, turn right onto Valley of the Falls Dr. to Falls Rd. in Forest Falls.
Did a short 3-mile hike up the Developer’s Trail to Kelly’s Cut-Off Trail to the original Art Smith Trail and back down Art Smith / Developers and down the Shey’s Trail and over to the Canyon trail and back down the Developer’s Trail.

Took a drive to Riverside to buy a rack to carry the electric bike on the van. Then drove to Oceanside and the Imperial Beach to hang around and enjoy the bike. Weather was terrible. Did not pedal. Did not hike. Did some walking around. Rain and wind kept me mostly indoors. Spent Monday with Tim working on the rack. Rain on I-15 about 10 miles south of Temecula. Snowed in Anza on the way back.
Happy Saint Valentine’s Day. Been raining for a few days. Lot of cold and lot of wind. Here are a couple of photos of the Art Smith Trail area.
Went Jeeping with Randy to Eureka Peak in the JTNP. Damn, is was cold and lots of wind. Ice in the puddles. Low 30’s. Where is my sun? Not much hiking but really nice trip.
